Features of the Petapator Chrome extension
The Petapator Chrome extension is a simple extension that uses LLM to analyze patent documents. The features of the extension include:
Downloading CSV of Search Results
When you search for patents on the USPTO, Google Patents, WIPO, or Espacenet websites, the extension will add a download button to the search results page. You can click on this button to download a CSV file of the search results. The CSV file will contain information about the patents. The information for each patent will include:
- Number of the patent
- Title of the patent
- Abstract of the patent
- Description of the patent
- Claims of the patent
- Inventor List of the patent
- Current Assignee of the patent
- A PDF link to the patent document
- URLs of the patent images
- Event Dates of the patent
- IPC Codes of the patent
- Family of the patent
You can open the CSV file in a spreadsheet program like Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets to analyze the search results further. This feature is useful for patent researchers who want to keep track of their search results and analyze them in more detail.
Viewing Images in Search Results
When you make a search on the USPTO, Google Patents, WIPO, or Espacenet websites, the extension will show images of the patents. The images are displayed after each patent in the search results. You can click on the images to view them in a larger size. This feature is useful for patent researchers who want to quickly see the imcages of the patents in the search results.
Analyzing Patent Documents with LLM
The extension uses LLM to analyze patent documents. You can analyze in two ways:
- Analyze a single patent document: When you open a specific patent document on the Google Patents or Espacenet website, the extension will add an chat box to the page. The chat box will contain some pre-defined questions about the patent document. You can click on the questions to get answers from LLM. The answers will be displayed in the chat box. But you can also ask your own questions to LLM. The answers will be displayed in the chat box as well. While you write your question you can cite different parts of the patent by useing curly braces
{}. For example, if you want to ask the LLM to get hightlights of the abstract, you can write:
Get highlights: {abstract}
The LLM will understand that you want to get highlights of the abstract and will provide you with the highlights.
Right now, the LLM analysis is only available for the Google Patents and Espacenet websites.
- Analyze batch patent documents: You can also analyze multiple patent documents at once. To do this, you may search for patents on the Google Patents website. When the search results are displayed, a text box will appear at the top of the page under the existing search bar. You ask LLM to analyze the patents in the search results by writing your question in the text box. The LLM will analyze each patent document in the search results and provide you with the answers under each patent. You can also ask further questions to LLM about the patent documents. The answers will be displayed under each patent as well. Right now, the batch analysis is only available for the Google Patents website.
